The Drug Discovery Building is one of two buildings that make up Clyburn Research Center, and is the home to drug design and synthesis research at The Medical University of South Carolina. The building houses a collaboration of basic science and clinical researchers with pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to develop innovative therapies and medicines.
This space also houses various research cores and centers such as an Advanced Cell Imaging Core, Drug Metabolism and Clinical Pharmacology Core, and a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core Facility.
Additionally, research labs in this building include pharmacology, structural biology, renal biology, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center research, and neuroscience research.
Classroom learning spaces and meeting rooms are also used to foster learning. And, this is a popular facility for special events with its bright open lobby area and large auditorium.Â
While situated on MUSC’s campus, scientists within represent our direct collaboration with Clemson University and the University of South Carolina. The building also facilitates existing and new partnerships with the private sector. In addition to its research facilities, the building houses a 300 seat multimedia auditorium, used for both classroom instruction and as a conference venue.
