If you’re a student, a patient, a visitor or a staff member – the effects of health care can often times leave you stressed and in search for a scenic escape. However; in the middle of our campus of downtown Charleston, you’ll find a place where the grass is always a little greener.Â
The greenway is a collaborative effort between The Medical University of South Carolina, the neighboring Roper Hospital and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. The creation of this daily getaway was to offer more green space for relaxation, walking and dining, as well as easier access to the surrounding hospitals of the Charleston Medical District. Consequently, the greenway is now a very popular location.
The greenway offers it’s victors shaded walking paths and tables. Along the way, you’ll also see awe-inspiring views of Long Lake and the Charleston Harbor.Â
During your visit to the greenway, you can experience a variety of ever-changing features including:

Local vendor markets along the Doughty Street area.
Above all, the ultimate goal of the greenway is to give everyone in the medical district of Charleston a place to connect and meet. Most importantly, the greenway was designed to bring people together in an environment of relaxation and innovation.Â
