Student Health and Wellbeing Care is located at 30 Bee Street, Suite 102.
Student Health and Wellbeing Care provides a range of services and educational opportunities designed to promote the overall physical, mental, emotional, and social health of MUSC students. Student Health and Wellbeing Care is comprised of two key units: Student Health Services and Counseling & Psychological Services. Both units work together to provide an integrated approach, offering holistic preventive care, acute and chronic illness care, stress and crisis management, and healthcare education.
MUSC Student Health Services
MUSC Student Health Services (SHS) is dedicated to delivering quality healthcare to the students at the Medical University of South Carolina.
SHS offers the following services:
• Outpatient care for acute and chronic illnesses
• Women’s healthcare
• Preventive healthcare
• Bloodborne pathogen exposure healthcare
• Healthcare education
• In-person and telehealth visits
Students who are actively enrolled in degree-seeking programs carrying at least six credit hours are eligible for medical care at Student Health Services.
The Student Health Services team works collaboratively with their colleagues at MUSC’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to provide interdisciplinary care for conditions such as anxiety, depression, and more. CAPS seeks to facilitate good academic performance and help students develop effective coping strategies to meet the challenges they encounter.
CAPS provides the highest quality short-term, problem-focused, and evidence-based mental health services for MUSC students, which can be accessed both in-person and virtually. CAPS offers individual and couples therapy, medication management, and psycho-educational group workshops that target important issues related to student well-being. CAPS services are entirely confidential.
MUSC students encounter many new experiences that challenge personal strengths and require new problem-solving skills. CAPS seeks to facilitate each student’s growth and development by enhancing personal assets, increasing self-understanding, and developing more effective coping strategies. The goal of the CAPS psychologists, physicians, and therapists to help students gain the most from their experiences at the Medical University of South Carolina.
