MUSC Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety at the Medical University of South Carolina provides a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors to campus.
Our department is centrally located on the main MUSC campus at 101 Jonathan Lucas Street.
The Department of Public Safety has a highly-trained staff of sworn police personnel appointed and commissioned as State Constables by the Governor of South Carolina. Our officers are empowered to enforce the laws of South Carolina with statewide jurisdiction and arrest powers.
Department of Public Safety Services
Our department supplies the MUSC campus with many services to help ensure you safety and security. These services include, but are not limited to:

- Safety escorts
- A bicycle registration program
- Vehicle assistance such as:
- Help with dead batteries
- Flat tires
- Keys locked in cars
- Alerts regarding any criminal activity or public safety concerns on campus
- The LiveSafe app
- Issuing regarding ID badges
- A campus location for lost and found items
