Walton Research Building

Located on the southern most side of MUSC’s campus, the Walton Research Building is home to a variety of departments and divsions including:

• The MUSC College of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
• The MUSC Department of Otolaryngology research space
• The MUSC Department of Medicine’s Division of Hematology and Oncology,
• Divisions of the College of Medicine Education team.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Laboratory Services, a division of Clinical Services, provides MUSC with laboratory services for inpatient, outpatient and outreach areas. The division also serves as the testing site for the State of South Carolina’s organ transplant agency. Organ transplants that are offered by the Medical University of South Carolina include:

• Kidney transplants
• Pancreas transplants
• Liver transplants
• Heart transplants
• Bone marrow transplants
• Intestinal and cornea transplants

The Department of Otolaryngology

The Department of Otolaryngology at MUSC holds, as its mission, the commitment to improving the quality of life of individuals and families through patient care, teaching, and the discovery of new knowledge.

The Department of Medicine’s Division of Hematology and Oncology

As an integral component of the Hollings Cancer Center, the MUSC Division of Hematology and Oncology builds upon a long history of excellence in hematology and hematological malignancies, as well as solid tumor oncology and bone marrow transplant. Division faculty are leaders in the fields of cancer care and blood disorders.
